Animal Friends invites everyone to watch the hit documentary "What You Eat: Twin Experiment."

- Try veganism and witness how your health and life change for the better.

Ten years have passed since British businessman Matthew Glover and his partner Jane Land, a former English language teacher, combined the words "vegan" and "January" and launched the now globally popular initiative Veganuary, inviting everyone to try veganism in January.

Simultaneously with Veganuary, the option to sign up for the free Veggie Challenge is always available in Croatia. The goal of both challenges is to demystify vegan nutrition and introduce the ecological, health, and ethical values of such a lifestyle, along with tasty recipes and useful information. "New registrations for the Veggie Challenge are constantly coming in," emphasize Animal Friends, who created and offered it at www.veganopolis.net.

In the ten years since the existence of Veganuary, we have witnessed an incredible increase in vegan selection! Almost everywhere in Croatia, you can find ready-made plant-based products: from cafes offering coffee with plant milk to supermarkets with an increasingly rich selection of plant-based cheeses and milk, plant-based meats, and all other products. Even large fast-food chains have decided to include vegan products in their selection. Their trend has been followed by smaller local restaurants, and vegan-only restaurants are opening more frequently because they are suitable for everyone, regardless of their dietary preferences.

"The presence of vegan selection and the acceptance of veganism have increased worldwide in the last decade. A friendly and non-judgmental approach of 'just try it for a month and see' has played an important role in this change," said Dr. Toni Vernelli from Veganuary.

This year, Netflix joined the promotion of Veganuary by releasing the documentary "What You Eat: Twin Experiment," proving the significant benefits of a plant-based diet for our health. This documentary series is based on the results of research from Stanford University that compared the impact of a vegan diet versus a meat-based diet on 22 pairs of identical twins.

By studying twins, researchers were able to control genetic factors and lifestyle factors and focus only on the health benefits of the diet. Interestingly, even those twins who did not eat exclusively vegan still had a healthier diet than average. Their diet, including meat and dairy products, was rich in various vegetables and fruits. Unfortunately, this is not common, so the difference in results would undoubtedly be even greater if they had eaten as most people do every day.
The results showed that those on an exclusively plant-based diet had lower levels of LDL cholesterol and insulin and lost weight, as they naturally consumed more fiber and fewer saturated fats. All these factors are associated with a lower risk of heart disease, the leading cause of death worldwide. The documentary also addresses topics such as the destructive environmental impact of meat and dairy production.

In addition to the latest documentary, Netflix offers excellent documentaries full of life-saving information such as "The Game Changers," "What The Health," "Cowspiracy," and "Seaspiracy."
Animal Friends invite everyone to sign up for the Veggie Challenge and try the benefits of a plant-based diet themselves: "There are countless pieces of evidence that plant-based food is good for our health and positively affects the quality and length of our lives, as well as the conservation of natural resources, preventing hunger in the world, preserving water, land, and air, and reducing environmental pollution. It also directly influences the fate of many sentient beings we share the planet with. The beginning of the year is always a good opportunity for positive changes. No one will lose anything if they accept the challenge for just one month. It all starts with being informed about the food we eat and how it reaches our plates."
