03/15/22 More than 170 animals neutered since the beginning of the humanitarian action!
The successful fundraising campaign for dog and cat castration in earthquake-affected areas of Sisak-Moslavina County, which was generously supported by many celebrities, demonstrated how much we care about animals.
Animal Friends Croatia thank everyone who contributed to the success of the „Pay for spay“ campaign, which raised enough funds to castrate up to 1000 animals in earthquake-affected areas.
More than 300 000 HRK was collected with the initial generous donation from Astra Business Engineering, which will be spent purposefully and transparently.
Each castration is preceded by the guardian registering on the phone number 095 4 254 254, where they will receive detailed instructions on how to care for the animal before and after castration.
Dr. Med. Vet. Svjetlana Prodanoviæ, Animal Protection Network coordinator, is overjoyed that over 170 dog and cat castrations were performed in a month, but she is asking citizens to be patient while registering and waiting for an appointment because the castration rate is determined by outpatient clinic veterinarians in relation to other patients and obligations.
Given the overwhelming response, Animal Friends Croatia urges the local self-government units of Sisak-Moslavina County to set aside funds to continue funding the castration of their citizens' dogs and cats, thereby preventing unwanted offspring and financial expenses for the care of abandoned animals.
According to Prodanoviæ, castration directly benefits dogs and cats by preventing pain and death, easing their coexistence with humans and reducing viral infectious and reproductive system diseases. Neutered animals live longer and have better health.
The brochure „Castration to Reduce Dog and Cat Abandonment“ contains specific advice on how to assist cities and municipalities in reducing the number of abandoned animals in their area, and thus the cost of their care.
