Voters Will Pick the Hottest Male and Female Vegetarians

What do Chris Martin, Stella McCartney, Joss Stone, Gwyneth Paltrow, Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon and Morrissey have in common? They're all hot, and it's no coincidence that they're also all vegetarian. Vegetarians' healthy diets help keep them youthful, slim and sexy, and you don't have to be a rich celebrity to take advantage of this beauty secret. Just ask sexy and scrumptious 24-year-old Zagreb resident Ozren Cuk, who has been chosen from hundreds of entrants across Europe as one of the 15 male finalists in PETA's "Sexiest Vegetarian Alive" contest.

Ozren, a student of law and volunteer at Animal Friends, turned vegetarian when he realised it was natural. His hobbies are animal rights activism, yoga, sports, roller-coasters and music. Ozren's photo and bio, along with those of the other veggie vixens and hot hunks selected as finalists, can be viewed at peta.org.uk.

The female and male voted the sexiest vegetarians alive will each receive £350 worth of prizes, including a £50 voucher for meat-free foods from The Redwood Wholefood Company, three bottles of vegan organic wine from Vintage Roots and a £50 voucher towards a VegiVentures holiday. The winners will be announced on February 16.

Why are millions of people going vegetarian? More and more people want to avoid supporting the suffering inflicted on the billions of animals raised and killed for food each year, and vegetarians are healthier - and sexier. Consumption of meat and other animal products has been conclusively linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes and several types of cancer as well as salmonella and other bacterial infections - not to mention the human form of mad cow disease. Why sexier? On average, vegetarians are thinner and trimmer than meat-eaters and less prone to impotence – the cholesterol and saturated fats in animal products slow the flow of blood to all the body's vital organs, not just the heart.

"Take one look at our radiant line-up of sexy vegetarian finalists, and it's clear that they’re all winners," says PETA Europe Campaign Coordinator Lauren Bowey. "So whether it's great food in the kitchen or great fun in the bedroom, who wouldn't want to have what these folks have to offer?"
