Animal Friends and Restart invite you to watch a movie about the infamous Paul Watson

- Movie trailer screening and brief eco-instructions at information stall; official movie announcement

Paul Watson, the most wanted environmental advocate today, is the founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, one of the founders of Greenpeace, and a cult hero of the renowned Animal Planet television series "Whale Wars," following the struggle of his activist group to prevent Japanese whalers from hunting whales. "Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist," a documentary movie directed by Peter Jay Brown, takes a look at the 30-year odyssey of Paul Watson and his Sea Shepherd Society crew in their unrelenting protection of marine life on the planet. The Croatian premiere of this intriguing movie takes place on Earth Day.

Citizens will have an opportunity to see the "Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist" trailer at Animal Friends' information stall on Varsavska ulica, near Trg Petra Preradovica in Zagreb, on April 22, 2013, Earth Day, starting at 10 A.M. Animal Friends has prepared brief eco-instructions on how to actively participate in preserving the planet by changing daily personal habits. Citizens are also invited to sign a petition to ban plastic bags. The documentary movie "Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist" will be announced in Bogdana Ogrizovica Library (Preradoviceva ulica 5) at 11 A.M.

The movie is distributed by Restart and will premiere on April 23, 2013 at 9:30 P.M. in Dokukino KIC (Preradoviceva ulica 5). A discussion about its provocative subject will follow the screening.

Critics have described this award winning movie as a funny, clever and controversial insight into the work of Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd crew since 1981. Director Peter Brown, the longest employed Sea Shepherd crew member, worked on the movie for three decades, documenting the brighter sides of ocean environmentalist activism. Paul Watson is to credit for using television to publicly expose the cruelty of whaling, which involves whalers striking whales' bodies with explosive harpoons and blowing their wombs to pieces, and to emphasize the importance of saving the whales and nature in general.

The Sea Shepherd crew are vegan because eating fish is unethical, and in Paul Watson's words, an environmental crime: "There are simply not enough fish in the sea to continue to feed the ever expanding populations of humanity. By 2030 every single commercial fishery on the planet will have been destroyed." He points out that we have already stood witness to the extinction of many fish species and that "there is a major biological holocaust being waged against life in the oceans". It is absurd that more than 50% of fish catch is processed into animal food; domestic cats eat more tuna than all the seals in the world, and it takes 50-70 sea fish to feed one salmon in a fish farm.

According to the 2010 UN report, the production of food of animal origin is responsible for a staggering 19% of global greenhouse gas emissions, which is more than global transportation. The reasons are very high energy costs of production for synthetic fertilizers, clearing rainforests to make pastures and grow food for livestock, and large methane emissions from livestock manure. Greenpeace and the Worldwatch Institute advocate that a change of diet as the most effective solution to global warming and environmental protection in general.

Everyone can easily make an impact on the conservation of nature and the environment by sorting and recycling household waste, and using cloth bags instead of plastic. By using these methods we can help preserve the lives of sea and water animals, reduce the amount of unnecessary waste on Earth, protect the nature and natural resources, reduce air, water and soil pollution, and conserve energy.

Humans are the only species responsible for the destruction of the Earth, and have the greatest power to preserve it. Animal Friends and Restart invite the public to see "Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist," and help preserve our planet by changing our habits, such as using cloth bags, sorting and recycling waste, and switching to a vegan diet.
